In my case, my USB or tape backup is a 'in case of emergency only' backup. It will not be used for restore unless something has gone spectacularly wrong (eg backup server destroyed, site destroyed). Any normal restore will be done from the fixed onsite media. That being the case, I just purge the full offsite job as soon as it has been run. Before the purge I take a copy of the catalog too to make any restore a bit easier. My offsite job is a VirtualFull in most cases. For the catalog backup when using USB disk, I don't even bother doing it as a bacula job, I just store it on the disk.
