Only learned how to bump the other day..  and it didn't work :(

Anyway back to the story.

It is ok now.

It was my back up path, being incorrect in the director.

Initially i could not get it to back up the files, i ended up with a path like 
"c:\\program files\\bacula"

I should have had "c:/program files/bacula",

the first time i tried all this i had no joy with the forward slashes, hence 
the back slashes, which seemed to work to an extent, i could backup and restore 
all, but couldnt traverse the tree.

i could even run a find.

Anyway its solved
