Some distributions get very far behind the current. This happens a lot with LTS type releases. They stick with a version and only upgrade for security reasons. There are precompiled versions for some of these on the bacula sourceforge page. BTW, the server (bacula-sd and bacula-dir) must be the same or higher version than any bacula-fd or bat that you are using.
