I have a mix of around 50 bacula clients with linux servers and windows desktops. I have 30TB on tape with my bacula server being split between 2 machines. The machine that is director does not contain the primary storage (lto2 tape archive) or database. It does have a secondary file storage however.

On linux install from your repository unless the version is too old.
