Raah ... As I've seen the lockmgr I was thinking about it. But all the rest is out of my competencies (very very limited in BSD world)
What I can suggest you (As others will certainly ask you) is to start the incriminated daemon in foreground, with a more high level of debug > 100 bacula-dir -dt -d999 -c /etc/bacula/bacula-dir.conf -g bacula -u bacula as you already done. Or try to read in the wiki the kaboom chapter (with strace, gdb & so) Other people, I'm thinking of Dan Laguile are more able to give you some advise with FreeBSD. If you don't have some news, try to ping them directly.
