Indeed it is. Thanks for pointing that out, I had overlooked that. While specifying Heartbeat Interval *anywhere* in bacula-dir.conf (whether in the Director or Client resource) didn't prevent the disconnects (and I therefore still cannot say whether it works per-client), specifying it on the remote machines did the trick, and the backups are now completing successfully.
