Almost certainly, it mostly depends on your operating system... under linux/unix, as long as you've got the proper device nodes like /dev/nstX and can use the device as usual with tar, dd, or whatever there should be no problems. Windows - I have no idea. MacOS seems to miss any tape device support out of the box, but I don't know for sure.
