I have NetWorker driving a Quantum Superloader. About 3 months ago it started doing exactly the same thing. As long as jobs are running it's fine, but once a job has been complete for even a couple minutes it takes a bus-reset to make it work again. The only common thread - other than the behavior - is an Adaptec card (mine's a 29320) hosting only the autoloader.
