I have run bacula-dir and bacula-sd under Windows Small Business Server 2008 (SBS 2k8 is 64 bit only) and it worked but I had to mess with the install a bit as the -dir and -sd are 32 bit but the -fd has to be the 64 bit version. If you are just installing under XP it should 'just work'. Are you using tape drive or usb disk?
