I've just attempted to add a couple of Mac OSX ("Tiger" - yes, still...) clients to our bacula system using the current 3.0.1 bacula-fd.
Backups on these clients have a couple of problems. First, there's the fact that they both choke to death a few GB into the initial Full backup with a series of errors on a number of different files like this: Error: xattr.c:415 Xattr stream on file "/Applications/AppleWorks 6/AppleWorks 6.app/Contents/MacOS/AppleWorks 6" exceeds maximum size of 1048576 bytes At the end of this series of errors is: JobId 13707: Fatal error: xattr.c:114 Network send error to SD. ERR=Unknown error: 0 The other problem is that at this point the job has halted...but the bacula director (also running 3.0.1, on Linux) believes the job to still be running, clogging the job queue and holding up other jobs waiting to use the storage or "waiting for higher-priority jobs to finish". If I comment out xattrsupport=yes, the backup works fine. But before I complain I figured I should ask: is xattrsupport useful or necessary for Mac OSX? I know they support extended attributes and ACL, but does "hfsplussupport=yes" cover that sort of thing on Macs? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Enter the BlackBerry Developer Challenge This is your chance to win up to $100,000 in prizes!
