Release doesn't, however, eject the tape from the drive, correct? Also, I mentioned that I will always follow my unmount command with a mount of a different tape.
Main reasons for unmounting... Weekly switching of backup tapes. My full backups run (mostly) during the 1st 7 days of the month, and after the 7th, whether a tape is full or not, I will remove the tape from the library and hold it for offsite storage. When I load the library with a new batch of tapes, I'll mount a tape in each of the tape library's drives. -John On Fri, May 22, 2009 at 02:23:32PM -0400, John Drescher wrote: > On Fri, May 22, 2009 at 11:58 AM, John Lockard <jlock...@umich.edu> wrote: > > And if I mounted a tape immediately after and also made sure > > that automout was set to yes?
