-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi everybody,
Windows backup works fine now and there is only one minor problem left. This is a Japanese Windows system and the mail report always contains some Japanese messages (drive mounted, file found/not found etc.). The mail report is sent to my mail account but the Japanese text is unreadable. The reason for this is that the Windows messages are encoded in Shift JIS while the mail is sent in UTF-8 (aka Unicode). Shift JIS is an 8 bit Japanese encoding standard NOT suitable for email. For email you may use either iso-20222-jp (which is a 7bit code very similar to the old JIS codeset) or UTF-8. For this reason I would like to convert the message to Unicode before it is sent. There are a number of conversion programs available like nkf (network kanji filter) . If I can pipe the message text through nkf before sending it this would solve the issue. So, the question is how can I achieve this. Any ideas? Thanks for any help!
