Back in 2006 somebody had issues with the drive's firmware and an update fixed it: http://www.mail-archive.com/bacula-users@lists.sourceforge.net/msg11065.html Just a shot in the dark really as I can't think of anything better to try. (Does the btape test work all the way, including fill?)
