Thanks for the responses. In answer to John's question, this is happening with all backup types (Full, Incremental, Differential). I went through a lot of the performance-related messages in the archives before emailing the list, but didn't find much that was relevant. The most common problems seemed to be crappy database performance (not my issue - the test case I've been using is only hitting 30-40 files/230MB on its Incrementals), using crappy hardware (not my issue as far as I can see), and compression. A couple things I neglected to list in my first message: - Turning off VSS has no effect on Windows backup speeds - My database has all three recommended indices, though I've not added any more My server's network performance seems all right. Testing basic TCP throughput with iperf, I'm showing an average of 880Mbps or so. FTP downloads to this server hum along at about 85MB/s. I remain baffled. -HKS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Create and Deploy Rich Internet Apps outside the browser with Adobe(R)AIR(TM) software.
