I am thinking of buying the same library, I currently have LTO-2
library that I want to replace. My reseller told me that the LTO
drives can read/write previous generation tapes and can only read 2
generations back. So LTO-4 can read/write LTO-3 tapes but can only read
LTO-2 tapes. It cannot read LTO-1 tapes.

I will be buying LTO-3 tape drive so I can use the existing LTO-2
tapes.
