I have read through the manual and understand that all the delete and purge
commands work against the catalog. However, I have sometimes encountered a
situation where a job to tape will fail (for whatever reason). In these
situations I usually have other backups that have successfully completed and
been written to the same tape. Given this, I wouldn't want to purge the
entire volume, but there is going to be data on the tape from the failed
job.

Is it possible to delete only the data from the failed job from the tape to
clear room to rerun the job on the same media? Does this question make
sense?

Thank you.
