I'm using Ubuntu.  In the end I had to download qwt from the web and 
build it before I could get bat to build.

In any case you should find the bat executable in the following folder: -

  bacula-2.2.5/src/qt-console

Note: it is a little strange that it gets built into the src folder.  
Maybe that is why so many people seem to miss it ;-)
The bat.conf file is also in the same directory.

Note also that if you run 'make install' the bat program doesn't get 
moved out of this folder in any way.
