it turned out to be rather simple:
after a good look at the headers of the traceback-emails, i noticed that 
they have not at all been sent from my backup machine, but from the 
machine where i did my initial tests (before deploying bacula).

so the tracebacks where totally unrelated to my running backup-system, 
and instead might be related to my everyday updating and fuzzing around 
on the test machine...
