Hi all,
I have recently started to move my production backups from ArcServe
BrightStor to Bacula 2.0.3 after completing a testing phase. I am still not
very familiar with Bacula and am trying to move jobs from AS to Bacula. Some
things are easy enough to move from one to the other. However, a lot of the
logic in scheduling can be taken care of by AS, while Bacula wants you to do
some more thinking (probably better and more flexible way of scheduling). I
am having difficulty understanding how to correctly configure this kind of
rotation period with volume recycling.

I have a group of hosts that I wish to backup 7 days a week. Full backup on
Sunday. These backups are done to disk. On Monday of each week, I would like
to copy the previous weeks jobs to tape. I have configured 4 pools. Week1,
Week2, Week3, Week4. I want to overwrite when the volumes from these pools
are presented again (weekly rotation). The disk volumes need to recycled in
the same way. A volume on disk for each Week, and allow it to be overwritten
when that week comes back in the rotation. I'm not necessarily asking for a
config file, just some good advice on how to set this up and the various
config sections I'll need to look at.

I'm also starting to backup Windows systems with Bacula and need some good
advice converting the following from AS to Bacula

Saving the System State

Windows System Options
  -----------------------
Traverse Directory Junctions and Volume mount points
Do not Preserve File Hard Links

  Volume Shadow Copy Service Options
  -----------------------------------
Files included by a Writer will be excluded from file system backups
Files excluded by a Writer will be excluded from file system backups

Thanks in advance for any help and advice.
