Hi, Arno Lehmann wrote: > > You could also simply rsync / scp / tar or whatever the files needed > to the other machine. Indeed, there are several other ways to do this, I was mainly interested in using Bacula for two reasons: 1. I have a networked backup / restore system. It has its own scheduler and a copy of the files I want distributed. I think that it would be the "cleanest" solution to just use it rather than set up something else (rsync, etc). I guess I just like the idea of using the backup system to backup itself this way :) 2. This does give me a minimal sanity test that things written to tape can actually be read back -- although I only consider this to be a side benefit rather than part of the justification.

I'm a bit surprised though that you cannot do it using just configuration parameters. I think I will go with the run after job script method. That guarantees that it will run after the backup has finished, and also keep the job details inside the bacula config files (makes it easier for the other admins to find a few months down the line :) ). > Personally, I'd prefer solution one, as it doesn't load your backup > system twice. For now, capacity and load isn't an issue, as we have sized the system to allow a fair bit of room for growth. Besides, only the catalog size could be a problem, the configuration files themselves are small. But I think this is one of those things that could be solved at least 10 different ways, depending on personal taste :) Thanks for your help.
