This is something that is discussed from time to time, and has recently been mentioned again. In the archives, search for "copy pool", for example. Look at item 7 in the projects file - this covers one part of your feature request. > Date: 24 Aug 2007 > Origin: dihor2000 at yahoo.de > Contact: > dihor2000 at yahoo.de > > Status: feature request > Assigned to no one > > > What: The ability to copy, data that is on a > device to another device is very important. > > Why: I think a backup to disk to tape well be the only future of > Backups. Moving data from one pool to another is already possible, this is what migration jobs do. Note that migration does not duplicate the data but moves it. Depending on your needs, a combination of copy pools and migration might become the solution: To make sure you have a set of backups available, use copy pools, sending job data to two different file storage devices. Later, migrate one set of file data to tape; or migrate both to different tapes; or migrate one, again using copy pools to create two tape copies of the data. This might cover some of your request. The remaining part, copying data to different media after the job itself is run, might still be interesting, but I would suggest to re-write your request with the above information in mind.
