Hello,

I'm copying this to the lists, because they will probably be interested in
this.

Thanks. :-)

Yes, there are a very good number of performance enhancements in 2.2.0
compared to prior versions. I cannot say exactly why you have such a big
difference, but I'm very pleased that it is in the right direction, though I
admit such a big change is a bit surprising.

If you are using SQLite3, you will have at least a 30 times speedup on 2.2.0
compared to other versions, with a small additional risk of database
corruption if your disk fills or your OS crashes. PostgreSQL (and probably
MySQL) should have at least a factor of 10 improvement for Full backups.

For Win32 systems, one of the big problems has been Ethernet cards/OS that do
not gracefully handle comm buffer sizes greater than 32K. I cannot exactly
remember, but I think I reduced the default on Win32 to 32K, while on Unix,
it is typically 64K.

Well, it is possible that he is on vacation as most of Europe shuts down in
August :-). In any case, I regret there is nothing he can do for you. Source
Forge does not accept complaints about individual problems from us -- they
require the person concerned to file a support request. I suggest before
filing a support request you look at the email documentation on their site --
they have a lot of anti-spam requirements, but their documentation is quite
complete.

Best regards,

Kern
