Dear John

May I ask if there are jobs queued waiting to be backed up. Also are you
using MySQL.

I had a similar problem with2.0.3 - what I noticed is a job starting
with high rate and as jobs got queued behind it the the rate declined
and also the system started to consume swap space and eventually "died".

With some advice from Arno Lehmann I installed the beta 2.1.28 and I
have not had any problems. Arno had another tip is to give each
scheduled job a different priority.

I run concurrent jobs to disc with Full backups being migrated to tape -
One benefit is as each job completes the remaining jobs through put
increases - I have never seen this before - the rate just declined no
doubt because the system was swap bound.

Regards
Stephen Carr
