Another update: I changed the record in the database to reflect the way
the barcode reads the volume, and it seems to be recognized, however, it
is listed as LTO2 and as such, the library can not find a suitable
device to read the tape. Although LTO3 can read LTO2 tapes. Has this
been addressed in a newer release? I am running 2.0.3 from Debian
packages.
Thanks,
Robert
More info on this. I put one of the old tapes in the new library and the
barcode reader reads it differently then the old one does. The new
library attaches L2 to the volume name. I would guess if this is not the
case then Bacula would not have a problem. So before I go through the
database and rename the volume to see if it works, does anyone have a
suggestion?
Catalog record for Volume "000099L3" updated to reference slot 99.
Volume "000013L2" not found in catalog. Slot=500 InChanger set to zero.
Catalog record for Volume "000100L3" updated to reference slot 100.
Thanks,
Robert

Subject: [Bacula-users] Moving to new library
We just got a shiny new tape library and I'd like to move our old LTO2
tapes into it from our old one. Anyone have experience moving tapes like
this? I've set-up a new server to act as just the SD and have the new
library connected to it. It is labeling tapes right now. Our old library
is connected to the SD/DIR. The thing that concerns me is that the
barcodes overlap, but the old library is LTO2 and the new one is LTO3.
It seems that the LTO format is part of the barcode of the new tapes,
but the old ones don't record it.
Old tapes:
Storage Element 1:Full :VolumeTag=000001
Storage Element 2:Full :VolumeTag=000002
Storage Element 3:Full :VolumeTag=000003
New tapes:
Storage Element 1:Full :VolumeTag=000001L3
Storage Element 2:Full :VolumeTag=000002L3
Storage Element 3:Full :VolumeTag=000003L3
I think I should be able to just move the tapes to the new library, but
I'm not sure if bacula would get confused.
Thanks,
Robert
