Consider using the repository at BlastWave (their website appears to be
down at the moment, but this is not common: http://www.blastwave.org).
Those are the packages I use. Use their pkg-get utility and dependencies
are solved automatically.
Also, "I got an error the whole time" is not helpful." as it provides no
useful information. You need to include errors if you want someone to
help you with them.
