mtx is available from blastwave.

I too am testing bacula on Solaris using the blastwave packages. I don't 
have an autochanger though, just a single tape dlt drive.

One thing I had to do is specify the tape backup device in the 
bacula-sd.conf as follows:

  Archive Device = /dev/rmt/0mbn


I would get errors if used for example:

  Archive Device = /dev/rmt/0m

or

  Archive Device = /dev/rmt/0

My experience is pretty good. I've got really simple backup needs 
though. I use a different tape for each day of the week Mon -Thur and 
have  multiple Friday tapes. The hardest part I have had to wrestle 
with, other than finding the correct Archive Device, is getting bacula 
to overwrite my volumes before the tape fills up. I think I have that 
dialed in now.
