The other method avoids having to mount. Just release each drive that has a tape in it from the changer than you can change the magazines and wait till the auto loader has finished performing an inventory of the tapes and finally an update slots. I have executed the update slots on my changer before the inventory has finished and in my case it waits till the changer is done and then does the command. I am not sure if this happens on all changers though. I have an exabyte Magnum224 with 2 LTO2 drives. John
