More useful would have been if you posted the exact command you used.

Verify the password here and the one in the client definition match.

If setting up a minimal test scenario is already a problem due to a 
tight time limit, I wouldn't do that job... In my experience, a new 
Bacula user will probably need weeks of experience and learning to be 
able to fairly determine if Bacula fits to sme specific demands. Other 
backup packages are not automatically easier to understand.

If you have about one week to see if Bacula can do what you need it 
might be more useful to write up the specs of your ideal backup solution 
and discuss these here on the list and with the other backup software 
people. I don't think hands-on experience in such short time can help 
you decide which of four packages suits you.
