Thanks for your quick answer.

The only reason that may be applicable in this case is the number of 
files, I think. The tapes and the drive are ok.
The backup that we have done on the tape was not complete because of 
permissions. Some files were not written to the tape and bacula gave 
warnings in the messages because it couldnt read them.
Is it possible that this is the reason for the volume error? Maybe 
bacula saved the file on its catalog but it didn't reached the tape 
because of the permissions?

If this is the reason, is there any way of telling bacula to save on the 
catalog only the files that it can read? The alternative is to create a 
pre-run script that checks that everything is readable, but our backup 
is so big that it takes several days and I'm sure that someone will 
change some permissions during the backup process :(
