We have installed a Sony SDX-260V tape drive in a Gentoo Linux 2.6.20
system. It is using a SCSI interface.

We have run the btape utility to test the tape drive, and that came back
fine, with no errors. However, whenever we attempt to do a backup, it
immediately fails with a i/o error, and then indicates that the tape is
full. Here are the relevant lines from the log file:

13-Apr 20:00 server01-dir: Start Backup JobId 11,
Job=NightlySave.2007-04-13_20.00.00
13-Apr 20:00 server01-sd: Wrote label to prelabeled Volume "Friday1" on
device "SDX-250V" (/dev/nst0)
13-Apr 20:00 server01-sd: NightlySave.2007-04-13_20.00.00 Error:
block.c:569 Write error at 0:3 on device "SDX-250V" (/dev/nst0).
ERR=Input/output error.
13-Apr 20:00 server01-sd: NightlySave.2007-04-13_20.00.00 Error: Re-read
of last block OK, but block numbers differ. Last block=1 Current block=3.
13-Apr 20:00 server01-sd: End of medium on Volume "Friday1"
Bytes=258,048 Blocks=3 at 13-Apr-2007 20:00.

I cannot figure out what the problem is.

Thanks,

Bob
