No, but I imagine it is easy to obtain on the Web. > I'm > planning some DVD backup systems and I'd like to know in advance what kind of > risk I'm facing when compared to DLT or LTO solutions. My comments come from my own experience of failures of DVDs to read in different drives (even the same drive), comments from users, and articles I have read. Ask a DVD manufacturer how long he will guarantee the data on a DVD. I suspect that there is *no* guarantee. If you ask a good tape manufacturer (HP), they will tell you 30 years. There are *lots* of small companies doing DVD backup because they think it is cheaper, but I don't think you find any serious company (or many anyway) doing so, and I am not convinced it is cheaper -- especially if you price out what a loss would cost. I've given you my opinion. You will need to do the research for yourself and make your own decision. A lot depends on each person's (company's) needs and situation. > > Besides the DVD jukebox, I'have another project for a small LAN: another DVD > backup system for a 20GB partition.
