I don't see DVDs as very economical for large storage. With only 9GB of data per disk, it takes a lot of DVDs to get the same capacity of LOT3 (400GB native, 800GB compressed). Sure you get random access to a DVD, but my experience, tapes are not that bad. With Blue-ray or DVD-HD, it might be a little more feasible, but by then LTO4 will be out offering twice the capacity. You may be the only one in the world trying to use it, but people here will try their best to help out.
