Why should I be using the mtx-changer Script at all? I only have one
single tapedrive, no changer and no changer configured.

OK, then this must be be the 0.1% case.

Could it be that the problem is "Always Open" being set to "yes"?

I guess that bacula is not able to relabel a tape on a single drive
setup where "Always Open" is set to yes and a tape is currently
mounted.
