Hello Thomas,
no i've not changed the scripts. I found two options max autochanger
wait and max open wait in bacula documentation, which could help.
After changing firmware and driver i will change these two options to 5
minuts.
Probably, these options will not be neccessary with the correct firmware
(and driver-module). They should not harm either?

Hi Markus,
i use bacula 2.0.2. the mtx-changer script for this version has near
line 183 some modifications regarding the vxa packetloader. try this, too.

Hello Thomas, hello all,
i've tried to get an official comment from FSC. Up to now, without
result.
I've now planed to install firmware V13205, as you suggested. To get
things straight i also plan to upgrade to bacula 2.0.3 and install
the provided patches.
I'm asking you (and all others): Is there something i missed? Is
there a chance that backup will work there after?
Thanks for your help

Is my hardware defect?
Any help is apreciated.
Best greetings,

Sorry Markus,
my reply to your question was only sent to you and not to the list.
You can download the latest firmware for the paketloader and the
tapedrive directly from exabyte (the originale manufacturer of the
tapeloader) under
http://www.exabyte.com/support/online/downloads/index.cfm.
The usage of the alternative aic7xxx module is just a workaround for
the bad firmware off the tapedrive. the actual fw for the tapedrive
is V13206 (which has the problem with the aic7xxx module) but a new
version is coming soon. I have an older V13205 which works fine with
the aic77xx.
For flashing a new firmware you have to use the "libtool" for linux
(for flashing fw into packetloader) or the "vxatool" for linux (for
flashing the drives fw).
I have a exabyte packetloader 320 running under SLES9Sp3 with device
/dev/st0 for the tapedrive and /dev/sg0 for the loader

Hallo Markus,
after downgrading the tapedrive-fw to V13205 you can use the normal
aic7xxx module, that will work with a normal performance. The modified
module that you use as a workaround has a very bad performance, afaik.
The entries in your logfile seems to be the result of a timing problem.
Bacula wants to use the tapedrive, but it isn't ready with mounting the
tape after loading it into the drive. Do you have modified the
mtx-changer script for the vxa packetloader? (see comments in that
script).
