There are specifications for that. Unfortunately, I only know the ones 
used in germany :-)

No direct experience, but the outline of a test for "S 120 P/DIS" is as 
follows:
- expose to fire for 120 minutes (no idea how hot).
- keep in the cooling room for 12 hours.
- quicky heat up the safe to 1090°C, keep at that level for 15 minutes, 
let it cool down slowly and increase the temperature to 1090°C again. 
Keep at that level for 45 min.
- drop the safe 9.15 m.
- again, fire. 840°C this time, for 45 minutes.

Afterwards, the safe must never have been warmer than 30°C in the 
inside, and the relative humidity must not have increased to more then 85%.

You can not expect your tapes to resist hell, but a normal fire and 
related damage should be something they survive in such a safe.

One example I found has a capacity of about 60 litres, a weight of 
320kg, and can, with a common insurance police, be used for values of up 
to 50.000 EUR.

I'd say there are options, but still you should have lots of copies of 
your vital business data...
