discussion and later look it up in the archives... and in your case, 
know wohm to ask when thy've got printing problems :-)

Ah, ok... no, it's just the other way round: The backup software uses 
whatever label is on the cartridge. Usually it's one letter and several 
digits.

In Bacula, the 'label barcodes' command does just that: It takes the 
labels read, by the autochanger, from the cartridges, and labels the 
tapes accordingly. Due to the limited length of the tape labels, you 
can't create very expressive names.

You won't get very informative names, but you will minimize the manual 
work you have to do.

Unfortunately, in tis case I suppose you know more about bar codes and 
label printing than most of the Bacula users.

Then I'm sure you'll find out which code to use quickly ;-)

The manuals I looked through this morning did not mention the barcode 
format used on the labels, btw.
