Darien Do you have access to the firewalls?
The problem could be in /proc/sys/net/ipv4/netfilter/ip_conntrack_tcp_timeout_established that is usually 5 days it could have been changed on one of the firewalls Have you set SD or FD Connect timeout to 5 seconds ? If you have grep for 300 in /proc/sys/net/ipv4/netfilter/ I am assuming the 5 seconds has been added to the 300 already set in some timeout.
