Hello all -
I'm in the process of evaluating/testing Bacula for our backup solution.
Currently I have 2.0 DIR, SD, and an FD running on a Ubuntu system and a
2.0 FD on a Win 2003 Server. For the most part everything works and
I've even managed to do a mostly bare-metal recovery of the Win system.
The thing that I'm running into though is that I'm getting an error with
the catalog backup. Initially it was telling me that '[EMAIL PROTECTED]'
was not authorized: I forgot to set the MySQL password for the bacula
user. I've set that and now when I run the 'BackupCatalog' job, I get:
========================8<-------------------------------------
run job="BackupCatalog" fileset="Catalog" level=Full client="stratus-fd"
pool="Default" when="2007-01-11 15:50:05" where="" storage="File"
priority="10"
Could not open catalog database "bacula".
mysql.c:188 Unable to connect to MySQL server.
Database=bacula User=bacula
It is probably not running or your password is incorrect.
yes: is an invalid command.
========================8<-------------------------------------
When I check the working directory after this failure, I see an empty
'bacula.sql' file. If I run the 'make_catalog_backup' command by hand
with the parameters from the bacula-dir.conf, it succeeds and bacula.sql
has appropriate contents.
I should probably note that while I'm in the test/evaluation phase, all
processes are running as a test user instead of as root.
Any ideas what I've missed?
Thanks
/dwight
