I overlooked the previous parts of this conversation. I think you must have some misconfiguration. By default it uses /var/run not /var/run/bacula/ -- so check your configurations for "PidDirectory" and "Pid Directory". (Why is there two different names for this?) Can't you just configure with --pid-dir= to point to your choice and then make sure your Pid Directory configurations point to that choice??
