It has, or it can have one. XCode is what you need to install, it's 
Apples development environment and contains about all you need - gcc, 
header files, etc.

I once managed to compile a FD after only downloading & installing 
XCode, and doing the usual ./configure && make && make install plus some 
system setup.

Or take a look at DarwinPorts (http://darwinports.opendarwin.org) - this 
time I found the address myself ;-) there should be packages to install. 
  1.38.9 is the most recent version there.

Well, try compiling it yourself - getting it integrated into Apples 
startup scheme might get interesting, though.
