Hi guys,

I wonder if one of you can help me. We are running Bacula 1.38.11 on RHEL 4 and
the client in question is running on MS Server 2003. I keep on receiving the
following error:

12-Dec 00:18 brutus-dir: Start Backup JobId 964,
Job=Payroll.2006-12-11_21.00.09 12-Dec 00:19 payroll-fd:

According to the manual it is due to name resolving but I can ping the name
from windows without any problem and there is nothing else that uses port 9103
only Bacula. The win config file is exactly like the rest of the win config
files we use and the rest work except this one.

I can connect to the Director on the same machine where SD is using the Console
and am I wrong to think that if I can connect using the console and there is no
connection problem that the FD should also connect to the SD, on the same
machine, Brutus, with out any problem? All ports are open and there is no
firewall blocking any internal traffic.

The manual said that we can specify an IP address but I'm not quite sure how in
the winbacula-fd.conf because I've tried numerous things and none work so can
anyone just give me a push in the right direction? Here is the current win
config file:

# List Directors who are permitted to contact this File daemon
#
Director {
  Name = brutus-dir
  Password = "XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX"
}

#
# "Global" File daemon configuration specifications
#
FileDaemon { # this is me
  Name = payroll-fd
  FDport = 9102 # where we listen for the director
  WorkingDirectory = /bacula/working
  Pid Directory = /bacula/working
}

# Send all messages except skipped files back to Director
Messages {
  Name = Standard
  director = brutus-dir = all, !skipped
}
