Hello,

As you know, I have transferred the copyrights to the Bacula source code that
were held in my name to the Free Software Foundation Europe. However, there
are a few remaining adminstration items. Probably the most important is for
the FSFE to have on hand signed copyright assignment from all current and
past developers and submitters (i.e. doc, scripts, ...). Many of you have
been with Bacula a long time or have submitted various code pieces in a
number of small quanties, and I have never asked you to submit a copyright
assignment.

Just to make 100% certain that Bacula source code remains open and free
forever, I am requesting *all* people who have contributed to Bacula,
particularly developers with CVS access, to print out the document at:

www.bacula.org/FLA-bacula.en.pdf

fill the information about you, indicate the part you have worked on or simply
the "Bacula.org project", sign it, and send it to FSFE in Zurich. The
instructions for this are on the first page. The advantages of this are that
you then add one more piece to ensuring that the source code remains free,
and you also obtain the right to re-use the code you previously submitted,
and you also do me a big favor and reduce my adminstrative workload because
without the signed agreement, I will start contacting each of you personally
sometime beginning next year. Basically if more than 10 lines of code you
have submitted (or the equivalent) are in the Bacula source code or
documentation, you should submit a copyright assignment. If you or your
employer has filled out the old copyright transfer and sent me a hard copy,
that is sufficient. However, if you wish, there is no harm in signing the
new agreement.

I would consider it a very nice Christmas present to me and to all the current
and future Bacula users if a good number of you would do this before the end
of the year.

I apologize for having to request this kind of administrative tasks, but given
all the recent news about copyright, IP, etc violations lately, it is a small
price to pay ...

Best regards,

Kern
