Hi there,I'm using bacula for some years now. Current installation uses version 1.38.9 with mysql 4.1.21 on a 2x Opteron 244 machine with 4GB RAM running Gentoo-2006.1 as director. Storage is an Overland Powerloader equipped with a LTO3 drive.
All tables are using the MyISAM engine. There are three other machines conneted to this backup master machine. Backups from any of those three machines will perform with a backuprate around 30MB/s which is ok for me.
Backups for the master (which is the main fileserver) will perform only around 12 MB/s, which is poor.
All rates are for full backups. There is only this single Bacula-Dir/ Bacula-SD machine. Everything uses the same database. The database is stored on a softraid level 1, utilizing two 72GB-SCA drives storing nothing else then the mysql-databases.
The master server hold ~ 600GB of data within around 5000000 files. The second largest client stores ~ 100GB within 1000000 files.
During full backup jobs mysql usually needs around 30%, bacula-dir 3%, bacula-sd 12-20%,20-30%. So there should be enough headroom.
IO/waits are usually within 0-2% so this should be no problem, too.For me the strange thing about it is, that backups for three clients perform well, only the one is rather slow.
Any suggestions? thank you in advance max -- ------------------------------------------------------------ Max Bidlingmaier Tel: +49-3677-6782-0 Administration Fax: +49-3677-6782-50 EasternGraphics GmbH PGP-Fingerprint: 8B85 42EF 2B50 80E3 4B6A A059 4E5E 142A 35A5 85C7
