I have exactly the same problem on two different changers on my linux debian sarge with 2.8.1 kernel:
HP StoreEdgeTape 12000e (6xDDS-2) and Libra 8-3(8xDDS-3) changer. Here the latest messages from the test command at Libra 8-3: ... 1000 blocks re-read correctly. <Here is a very log period before next is shown> btape: btape Error: block.c:782 Read error at file:blk 0:1000 in device /dev/nst0. ERR=Input/output error. btape: btape.c:823 Read block 1001 failed! ERR=Input/output error I cannot further use the tape because it's looks like now blocked. After quit: mt -f /dev/nst0 status /dev/nst0: Input/output error After reboot or after reattaching via echo "scsi remove-single...." >/proc/scsi/scsi and echo "scsi add-single..." >/proc/scsi/scsi the tape is back and I can reproduce the problem. Any idea where this comes from? EOF indication Problems? MfG... Pierre ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Using Tomcat but need to do more?
