We have many Home workers connected to the Office using
OpenVPN. They run Windows on their laptops and are connected to
our Active Directory domain. Our Bacula system has
configurations for each of them, using the hostname as target.

On the nice things about AD is that it will update DNS
automatically so when a user is in the Office or at Home (and
in different subnets) the hostname always points to them.

Thus the same Backup jobs run fine wherever the users are.
Obviously this can be a problem for those connected using low
bandwidth links, but in our case we don't have any problems.
Users can always shut down the Bacula FD it is bothering them,
and some do.

No special configuration other than a working OpenVPN and
Bacula setup was required to get this working.

Dominic
