Thanks for the quick reply. Of course, RPMs would be best. Now I have
embarked upon an exciting search for them. I found the section on RPM
package building toward the back of the manual and probed around a bit.
Soon I found /root/bacula-1.38.11/platforms/suse/bacula.spec.in. There
is a section in it describing BuildRequires for each OS version. I note
some discrepancies between versions for some of the items and the
versions demanded when I tried to make gtk. Also, examining my installed
packages with YaST, I find that most of them are there, at least the
versions listed in bacula.spec.in, but not necessarily what the gtk make
required. Maybe my problem is that I already have gtk2-devel v. 2.8
installed, but had tried to make v. 2.6.

Comparing bacula.spec.in to YaST, the only thing I am missing is
bonobo-activation-devel.

When I tried running rpmbuild I got an error of this sort:

error: File /usr/src/packages/SOURCES/[EMAIL PROTECTED]@.tar.gz: No such
file or directory

I tried copying bacula-1.38.11.tar.gz there, but the error persists.
People on this list have been very good about helping me get Bacula
going the first time around and I don't want to impose on your patience,
so I will consult the Internet for information regarding building my own
RPMs. YaST will certainly be happier that way.

Richard
