I'm not absolutely sure here, but doing a 'status dir' command should 
set up a new database connection. In fact, any operation requiring 
catalog access should, but a status command shouldn't have any side-effects.

I'm not sure that the job can be continued now, but re-initiating the 
database connection and then swapping tapes might work. You'll know soon :-)
