If you are using an Adaptec SCSI host adapter, look at the scsi device
config in the Adaptec bios.  There is an option for "BIOS Multiple LUN
Support" or something close to that.  Turn it on (it's off by default for
all channels).  Then save changes and exit from the Adaptec BIOS.  You
should then see it scan and show you both the drive and the changer.  For
instance if it is on SCSI ID 5, it will show entries for 5,0 (the drive)
and 5,1 (the changer).

If it's not an Adaptec, I would look for a similar feature.  Until the
controller sees both devices, Linux doesn't have a chance.
