Dear All While backing up a laptop with a large amount of data the laptop went into suspend/standby mode while the 10GB of data was being written to tape (approx through put to tape is about 10 GB /hour). See below.
I have fixed the laptop's power options it now never goes into stand by or hibernate than the disc spin down is 2 hours. My other option was to reduce the spool data size. The problem is the there is a mismatch after the disconnection. In the Manual section under Tips and Suggestions it indicates this only occurs when the Director or Storage daemon crashes - maybe the File Daemon should be added. I manually used this method to get the Volume out of its error state. See Below. I understand the reason for Bacula to be conservative with regard to volume versus catalog information but I wonder if there could be an option to automatically correct the mismatch and issue a Warning email / message instead of the OK message/email so the sysadmin can then check the Volume is ok by restoring a file from the job. I cannot be the only person using Bacula to backup clients over the network - what if a switch or router fails this would cause a similar problem. This software beats the pants off any commercial software I have used / tested.
