apart from that- I don't know Zabbix, but as long as there is any possibility to invoke some command from the shell that sends the notifications you want I'd say this is the right place to use a run command. Set up some script which gives the actual message to Zabbix. Call this script, either by ssh or directly from the run after command. Command substitution from Bacula allows you to pass the job name and status to the script you run, so it's easy to filter and only send a notification for failed, important jobs, for example. (I use a setup like this as an interface to Nagios.) If Zabbix works differently to what I assume, you could have a look at http://smstools.meinemullemaus.de/ which is a collection of programs to send SMS using a cellphone or a GSM terminal attached to your server, which has the advantage of being rather faster than some internet service, working even when internet connectivity is down, and being easily integrated into all sorts of software.
